Are you in District 7?
District 7 includes Southside, Telegraph Avenue, areas around UC Berkeley, People’s Park, and nearby residential blocks.
Berkeley residents elect a City Council representative for the district where they live. Use the City’s official district lookup to confirm your district by address.
If you are not sure whether you live in District 7, check your address before making your voting plan.

Vote by Mail
Alameda County voters can use any Vote Center in the county. Check the official list for locations, opening dates, and daily hours; early-voting schedules vary by location.
Election Day voting hours are 7 AM–8 PM.
Track Your Ballot
California mails ballots to all active registered voters. Follow your ballot’s instructions, place it in the return envelope, and sign the envelope before returning it.
For this election, mailed ballots must be postmarked by November 3 and received by November 10. Mail early. If returning your ballot close to Election Day, consider an official drop box or voting location instead. Official ballot-return deadlines
You can also return your ballot to an official drop box or voting location by 8 PM on November 3. Check the county’s current locations before making your trip.
Vote In Person
California’s “Where’s My Ballot?” service provides updates about your mail ballot, including when it is received and whether it is accepted. Notifications can also alert you to an issue requiring your attention.
Ranked-choice voting and student voters
How ranked-choice voting works
Berkeley City Council elections use ranked-choice voting.
That means you can rank candidates in order of preference:
Rank your first choice.
Rank your second choice.
Continue ranking additional candidates if you want to.
If you support Aidan, mark Aidan Hill as your first choice.
You can still rank other candidates after Aidan.
Ranking additional candidates does not hurt your first choice.
Student voters
You can register to vote online through the California Secretary of State.
The regular voter registration deadline for the November 3, 2026 election is October 19, 2026. If you miss that deadline, California allows conditional voter registration through Election Day.
Update your registration if you recently moved, changed your name, changed your political party preference, or want to make sure your ballot goes to the right address.
